Dental Implants
Dental implants are the best solution for the permanent replacement of missing teeth. They are titanium screws that are surgically inserted into the jaw to act as a new root and can house a new tooth.
What is the procedure for a dental implant?
During your consultation, Dr Herman Jay will examine the area and take an x-ray. He will then draw up a personalised treatment plan. If you have a damaged tooth, it will need to be extracted and allowed to heal before receiving your implant.
The dental implant is surgically inserted into your jawbone and will require numbing and possibly local anaesthetic. Once the implant has healed, an abutment is attached, and a crown is fitted to match your existing teeth. Next, Dr Herman Jay will take an impression of your existing teeth and the surrounding area to create a mould and design the perfect tooth, all in the in-house laboratory.
Benefits of dental implants
Dental implants have become one of the most sought after procedures for replacing missing teeth as they offer a range of advantages.
- A permanent solution to missing teeth
- Function as regular teeth, allowing you to chew, smile and talk as you normally would
- Durable and convenient
Crowns
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that fit over teeth too damaged to be restored with fillings. They are made of a durable material like ceramic or porcelain to restore the tooth and protect it from further damage.
When are dental crowns used?
Crowns have many uses for treating oral conditions that impact the health and appearance of teeth.
- Protecting damaged teeth
- Fitting onto a dental implant
- Connecting to a dental bridge
What is the process for receiving a dental crown?
Dr Herman Jay’s in-house laboratory is equipped with modern dental technology to provide more efficient services to clients. One such service is same-day procedures. During your consultation, Dr Herman Jay will examine your teeth and take an x-ray of the tooth and bone to check for any concerns that may need to be addressed before receiving your crown.
Once your tooth is cleared to receive a crown, Dr Herman Jay will take an impression of the tooth and create the matching crown using CEREC technology in the lab. The crown will be created and fitted on the same day for a seamless process.
Permanent crowns are durable and perfect for those looking for a long-term solution to a damaged tooth.
Veneers
Dental veneers are curved shells cemented to the front of the tooth to conceal chips, discolouration or damage. The number of veneers an individual can receive ranges from one to many, depending on whether you would like to repair one tooth or create a seamless smile.
What is the process for receiving dental veneers?
The process for getting veneers is similar to that of crowns. Dr Herman Jay will examine your teeth and take an x-ray of the tooth and bone to check for any concerns to be addressed before receiving your veneer.

Bridges
Dental bridges fill the space of several missing teeth, restoring your smile and providing an effective solution to one or more lost teeth. They are made up of crowns on either side, with false teeth cemented in between to create the illusion of natural teeth.
What are the different types of dental bridges?
Dr Herman Jay may use one of three different types of bridges to fill the gap of missing teeth.
- Traditional: This is the most common type of bridge and involves two crowns on either end with false teeth connected in between.
- Resin-bonded: The bridge is connected to existing teeth using metal or porcelain wings.
- Implant-supported: Dental implants are used to support the bridge instead of crowns.
- Cantilever: This is a more outdated method where there is only one tooth that the bridge can be connected to and is most often used at the back of the mouth.
What is the process for receiving dental bridges?
Dr Herman Jay will prepare your teeth to receive the bridge by removing the enamel from the adjacent teeth to receive the crowns during your appointment. He will then create impressions of your mouth to use as a model for your bridge and crowns.
Dr Jay’s modern technology allows him to provide patients with same-day services, so you won’t have to wait for your permanent crown. Instead, he will create your bridges and fit them on the same day without needing a temporary bridge or a second appointment.
Benefits of dental bridges
Dental bridges offer relatively long-term solutions to missing teeth. They complete your smile and function like regular teeth. As a result, you should experience much more ease when eating and talking and have more confidence.
